Tyler Rogols, M.B.A., M.A., LPCC-S (he/him/his) is a very humanistic counselor. He believes that people grow, thrive, and fulfill their potential best when they’re empowered to make their own decisions and live their most authentic lives. Tyler also believes that each person is the expert on their own experience. That’s why he strives to create a safe, welcoming space for his clients that affirms their dignity and utilizes their own strengths. His counseling style is very gentle and collaborative, giving clients equal ownership over the therapeutic process. Tyler has experience treating a range of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. He particularly enjoys working with clients on growth-related topics such as relationship issues, career issues, LGBTQ+ and identity-related issues, and finding meaning after adverse life events. Tyler believes in using evidence-based techniques but also recognizes that no two people are the same, so he tailors his counseling approach to fit the needs of each individual client. Tyler is a two-time alumnus of The Ohio State University, having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling there. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a specialization in Health Policy from Bowling Green State University.
Tyler’s personal style and manner of interacting with clients is influenced by his love of ancient wisdom traditions. In 2018, he traveled to the mountains of northern Thailand to study vipassana meditation in the Theravada forest tradition. This experience reaffirmed his belief that painful experiences are a natural part of life, that each of us has the innate ability to transcend those experiences and grow from them, and that all beings deserve to be happy and free.
Although Tyler is a therapist first, he also remains actively involved in collaborative research. He has published and presented internationally on topics related to meaning in life, mature happiness, post-traumatic growth, existential courage, cancer, and the use of second-wave positive psychology in counseling. Locally, Tyler is an advocate for the competent, affirming care of LGBTQ+ persons. He has collaborated with non-profit groups to complete transgender community needs assessments, and has presented information about Transgender issues for community events.
